I wanted to do this roundup the other day but time got away from me. :)
Quite a few people took the time to comment and or make suggestions on what they think I should do that would be most helpful for me in terms of generating some passive income. If you would like to read about the seven money making ideas that I came up with then read this post AnyWired-Middlebrook Make Money Online Challenge: Open Source Entrepreneurship first. In addition to my own ideas this is what folks had to say:

Possible participants in the challenge with me -
Kelly @ SHE-POWER
I’ve ummed and ahhed over Wealthy Affiliate for months. I’ve considered e-books because I’m a reasonable writer and I’ve got a marketing background and I’m building a bit of an online following, but I just can’t seem to take action.
There’s so many options that I’ve become stuck and have no idea which way to turn, so I’m being a big chicken and doing nothing. So unlike me.
Agh, must break the paralysis and DO something. How scary can this be?
Okay, I pledge to you that I am also going to read the first 4 chapters of Caroline’s e-book in the next few days.
Jarkko @ JarkkoLaine
I’m now considering joining your challenge and open sourcing my business experiments as well. I’m in fact pondering on the same questions as you at the moment: what is my product?
People who had ideas or suggestions -
Koka @ KokaSexton
This is a wonderful post with a lot of content. I think your ideas sound great but will take a lot of time to implement. I think that with any well thought out idea with the right motivation, anything is possible.
Sonny @ InvestorMarket
I think you should create a “how to” escape overseas and buy, build, invest, in a new place / 2nd life or home product / e book / consulting. Travel is a huge niche and living overseas is directly related. Also this is what you know since you are living the life.
Ross Hill @ RossHill
I like the idea of being a Lifestyle Design Consultant with the blog which can incorporate quite a few of the other ideas you have mentioned :)
Coqui @ Visit-the-Coqui
It would be nice to have some passive income coming in. Have you considered advertising on this site - you would be off to a good start.
Terence @ Terence Chang
I think that uniqueness is the key to success. You need to have something different to offer. One of the idea I have for you is to teach people how to manage their overseas business as an lifestyle entrepreneur.
Kevin @ VirtualSpeakingCoach
One of the hardest things I have done is to try to take an inventory of what I have to offer. Ask people who know you what they think it is you have to offer. I promise their answers will surprise you. Take the answers they give you and consider ebook topics from that.
Dan @ Escape 101
Now, that being said, I’m all for jumping in once in a while when the stakes are low. Since you’ve already got something you’re obviously passionate about (this blog) why not just throw up some Google Ads and find out first hand how it works? The risk is pretty low, I think. You can spend the month of April figuring out your next steps while your ads work (or don’t work) all on their own.
Sarah @TeaTreeandRest
Wondering if you’ve considered site build it for building revenue generating niche sites? Pavlina is an affiliate so he has a lot of information about them on his site.
People who sent well wishes -
Lid @ BlogWell
I too have this problem of not enough time, not enough cash ;) - I’m struggling keeping up with everything I need to do, and this doesn’t leave me enough time to do what I want to do career wise.
I’ll be following closely…
Mark Blair @ SMOblog
I can’t wait to see how this progresses for you! Looks like you are off to a running start. :-)
Shana Albert @ SocialDesire
I will be following your journey closely. And, I can’t wait to see where it takes you.
Skellie @ AnyWired
I think you’re going to surprise yourself with what you can do. I’ll be keeping an eye on how it goes :).
Caroline Middlebrook @ Caroline Middlebrook
I like to organise my work into projects to keep myself focused so I can see where you are coming from with this challenge. Good luck with it.
Honestly, I want to sincerely thank everyone who submitted ideas and sent well wishes so far. At present, I have a two business ideas that I think I am going to pursue, but more on that in my next post in the series.
While buzzing around the net searching for information the past couple of days I came across a couple of posts that some of you might find interesting (if you are also pursuing the goal of becoming a full-fledged lifestyle entrepreneur):
- Erica DeWolf Affiliate Marketing: Your Questions Answered!
- Christine O’Kelly How I Made $2,952 Online with a $0 Investment
- Caroline Middlebrook Make Money Blogging By Selling Your Knowledge
Until next time, what are some ideas that you all have for making money online? Even if you don’t want to give specifics I would like to hear your general thoughts…
(Editor’s note: My next post will have NOTHING to do with making money online or lifestyle entrepreneurship. Instead we will go back to looking at lifestyle design and how to prepare for your first extended trip, sabbatical, or mini-retirement.)

Looking forward to reading your new post.
By the way, if you do have sometime, be sure to join the Twitter and download Twhirl.
I was one of the post listed on ProBlogger and got over 20 new followers in one day. I think Twitter can be very powerful tool.
Keep it up!
Agree about Twitter (although I don’t have that many followers :o) ) - but unable to get Twhirl to work on my XP system - not tried it on my vista laptop yet.
@Coqui
Did you install the Adobe AIR component? The Twhirl need the component to work. You can visit the Twhirl web site and click on the download Adobe Air link.
Mark:
Sorry to take this space for something not related to your post. ;-)
@Terence - I did, and I can get the interface to run, but Twhirl will not recognize my login info - I’ll search for another app.
Hey Terence - I am glad that you pointed out a GOOD resource…I agree, I should get on Twitter but currently don’t have the time for another social media tool :(
Mark
I have been thinking about this a lot and I’ve read some of Caroline’s book, but I’m having trouble finding time to really sit and consider my options so I can make a decision of what step to take next.
Funny enough, just as I start thinking about starting online venture, my local university has approached me for teaching work. It’s like I’m being pushed to choose a path.
1. easy regular money that is not what I want to do long-term, OR
2. take a chance on an online venture which encapsulates my writing, my travel obsession and allows me to have that mobile lifestyle I dream about. But it won’t be quick and easy money
Struggling to find right answer for me. But I think Sonny’s idea for you is a good one. Everyone dreams of escaping to paradise to run a business, don’t they? And what about advertising on the blog? I have considered it and been approached, but not sure if I’m keen.
Kelly
Hi Kelly - good luck with however you decide to proceed…Is it possible that you could do both? :)
I have considered advertising on this site but because I am working with the most basic (and unchanged) theme I think it might look bad (ugly)?
Aren’t you going to Spain? I bet you could put a good dent into an ebook during the flight…
